Walloon-BelgiansAlthough Flemish-Belgians settled in Northeast Wisconsin, this site concentrates on the Walloon-Belgians of the Door Peninsula. Wallonians immigrated from Wallonia, a French-speaking, Catholic region in Southern Belgium. The ethnic enclave on the Door Peninsula is concentrated in a 20 by 50 mile area. There language, customs and heritage are distinct; the legacy of their settlement is apparent across the landscape. |
